300 Questions About Cats
Book Review by Leigh Curry
This attractive paperback packs its 240 pages (4" x 7 1/4") with enough facts and sensible advice to fill a cat fancier's pocket for more than one season. The 300 questions are not only numbered but are set forth in seven categories, as follows: Acquisition, the Law, and Equipment; Species-Appropriate Care; Healthy Diet; Health and Grooming; Anatomy and the Senses; Language and Behavior; Training, Playing and Keeping Active. In addition, there is a detailed index.
The questions and answers are presented in a number of colored groupings, and color is used throughout the book to divide subjects from each other. Color photos illustrate many of the points made by the author.
There are many tables and charts which supplement the text of the book. For example, there is a list of the contents for a cat's medicine chest; another list sets forth symptoms of diseases. Both grooming tools and types of cat beds are illustrated as well as listed. Zoonoses, diseases communicable to humans, are set forth along with their symptoms.
This is much more than a fact book. It is packed with advice about care, feeding, training, health and behavior. It is also a delightful book for browsing.

- Catopolis by Martin H. Greenberg (Editor), Janet Deaver-Pack (Editor)
Set in a world that exists on the same plane as humans, yet is hidden from us, Catopolis introduces readers to an assortment of cats, ranging from a feline Seer who must take destiny into her own paws to defeat a dictatorial tomcat thug...to a black cat who can call upon the powers of the “big cats” to wage a war against evil...to a cat who would be king...to the ins and outs of cat politics and the perils of using mice as ballots...to a cat burglar looking for a musical treasure for his “boss.”
- Do Cats Hear with Their Feet?: Where Cats Come From, What We Know About Them, and What They Think About Us by Jake Page
Do Cats Hear with Their Feet? traces the evolution of cats from the time they first adapted their feline form about 20 million years ago. Exploring every aspect of a cat's life—from predation, to play, to communication—Jake Page shows us what a cat's daily life is really like. He gives us a cat's-eye view of a bird hunt in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains and explains why cats will hunt even when they are full, and why no self-respecting cat would eat vegetables. In sections that will be of interest to every cat owner, Jake Page demonstrates why territory is all-important to cats, investigates cat ESP, and shows that cats have, in fact, never been fully domesticated; they've just graciously decided to reside with us. Beautifully illustrated, this engaging book is full of surprising facts. Did you know: Black cats do better in the crowded conditions of cities than any other color? Cats are as allergic to humans as humans are to cats? Cats have survived falls from heights of over seven stories?
